About Chinese Medicine
There are many forms of Chinese medicine. This includes herbal medicine and qi gong. The Chinese medicine views the body as an energetic system in active balance. Chinese medicine helps restore the body to the balance lost due to lack of qi, or energy. It is used to correct imbalances caused by illness and pain.
Herbal medicine is used to promote health. They are usually in a tea, pill, or in the form of pharmaceutical grade extracts. When there is a pattern of disharmony, there will be an individualized herbal formula constructed to help correct this pattern.
Qi Gong is the moving of qi through the body by using physical movements and mental concentration. It is used to promote and preserve health, or used in response to specific disorders. Qi Gong requires the body to be relaxed and the mind to be focused on specific ideas or parts of the body.
Another type of Qi Gong involves the massaging of a specific part of the body while contemplating on balancing the qi in that part of the body. The exercises may be done while sitting, standing, or lying down.
Medicinal Herbs
Medicinal herbs are a cornerstone of Chinese medicine. They are used to restore balance and support the body’s natural healing processes. Herbal formulas are carefully crafted combinations of plants, minerals, and animal products, each selected for their specific properties and how they interact with each other. These formulas are customized to the individual’s unique constitution and the specific patterns of disharmony they present.
For example, ginseng is often used to boost energy and vitality, while ginger may be included to improve digestion and reduce inflammation. The aim is to treat the underlying causes of illness rather than just the symptoms, promoting long-term health and wellness.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy is a therapeutic technique that creates suction from cupping. The suction forces blood flow to the area and vessels under the skin. This helps with circulation.
Acupuncture
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is an acupuncture treatment that provides for pain relief and movement associated with muscles and myofascial to stimulate the areas that are causing constriction.
Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture is a modern variation of traditional acupuncture that involves applying small electrical currents to acupuncture needles once they are inserted into the skin. This technique enhances the stimulation of the acupuncture points, providing stronger and more consistent impulses compared to manual manipulation. The benefits of electroacupuncture over traditional dry needle acupuncture include improved pain relief, better treatment outcomes for certain conditions such as chronic pain and neurological disorders, and enhanced stimulation of muscle tissue, which can be particularly effective for musculoskeletal issues. By combining the principles of traditional acupuncture with modern technology, electroacupuncture offers a powerful and efficient method for promoting healing and relieving a variety of ailments.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that involves burning dried mugwort (Artemisia argyi) near specific points on the body to stimulate healing. This practice aims to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body, dispel cold and dampness, and promote overall health. Moxibustion can be performed either directly, where the moxa is placed on the skin, or indirectly, using a moxa stick held close to the body or placed on an acupuncture needle. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as chronic pain, digestive disorders, and issues related to cold and stagnant energy. By enhancing the circulation of Qi and blood, moxibustion helps to restore balance and harmony within the body, supporting its natural healing processes.
